I've fought with myself on writing a blog for a while now, but here goes nothing.
If you're on this page and reading - Welcome!
My purpose for having a blog is to connect with my customers (hopefully you), readers (Hello!), fans (Hi Mom!), neb noses, etc about the projects I'm working on for the shop and building my business. I hope you learn more about me. I will also share different projects that I take on around my nest (my home) because I'm bound and determined to do some serious projects so that we can sell our subdivision home and move into the country.
I don't have a stockpile of topics to share with you. My musings are going to come as they come. Hopefully my ramblings through my blog will alleviate all of my grand ideas and plans that my husband gets to listen to.
Why did I name my blog Tidbits From The Nest? Because I'm creative and I don't like to go with the flow.
I wrote about why I named my store Josephine & Mim on my about page, but I'll expand on it here a little more.
Josephine is my maternal grandmother. She's had a huge influence on me, especially my flair for creativity, love of decorating and pillows. She is a retired interior decorator and I'm pretty stoked that Josephine & Mim seems to sparked a flame in her to start sewing again. I will share with you that some of her pillows will be available in my shop later this year.
Mim was my step-paternal grandmother (is that a thing?). She was a fun, classy lady who would come stay with us (my mom, step-dad and I) every summer. She had a mischievous twinkle in her eye, enjoyed watching the Young & the Restless and read harlequin romance novels (she called them her 'Sexy books'). She also played a wicked game of double (or triple) solitaire. Gosh I miss that lady.
See the nest with the two eggs that is part of my logo? That was taken by mom one summer. The nest was in one of her hanging baskets. She has been an extremely big influence in my life. She's my best friend and I owe much of who I am to her. She's also an extremely talented sewist, she owns her own fabric and yarn shop (Fabrications) (yup, shameless plug) and I had the privilege of working for her for several years before I wandered off to get my MBA in accounting and work in the corporate world.
If you've made it to this point of my blog - there will now be a quiz. Ok - there won't, but I appreciate you reading.
